Fire damages seven shops Thanlyin

(Mizzima) – Seven shops were damaged in a fire caused by a burning candle in Thanlyin in Rangoon Region on Tuesday evening.

The fire started at 5:10 p.m. in a shop on Kyaikkhout Road in Amhuhtan Ward. It was extinguished at 6:03 p.m., according to the Rangoon Region Central Fire Department.

The fire started from a candle on a bookshelf on the upper story of the shop, fire officials said.

Damage was estimated at 1.4 million kyat (about US$ 1,700) for the shop) and 440,000 kyat for material in the shop, according to the fire department.

Eighteen fire engines and four management vehicles from Thanlyin and other townships were sent to fight the one-hour blaze.
