Angry residents from Se Tel Village blocked Aung San Suu Kyi's path as she tried to leave a local Buddhist chapel on Thursday after she had defended the decision of the Latpadaung Inquiry Commission, for which she is the chairperson.

The villagers are demanding that those responsible for the November 29 crackdown on activists and monks be held responsible.

A Mizzima source at the scene said the NLD leader and about five colleagues were being prevented from leaving the chapel by more than 100 locals who demanded that she guarantee action on the matter.

Suu Kyi was allowed to leave after an hour.
